May Book Club: 6 Must-Read Books For Creative Entrepreneurs
Hey Everyone,
Lately, I’ve been aiming to do a better job of reading more books to inspire me. Books that will teach me how to be more productive, manifest the things I want and inspire me to make the most out of my life and career. Below you’ll find a list for 6 of the best books for entrepreneurs that I’ve read this past month. A few of them are constant re-reads and a few newbies are in there too. Happy Reading!
Rise and Grind by Daymond John
For those of you who don’t know, I love talking about morning routines and studying how entrepreneurs became successful. This book by Daymon John aka the people’s Shark from ABC’s Sharktank is a great read for anyone who wants to improve their productivity, morning routine, and entrepreneurial growth. Daymond talks to a number of successful entrepreneurs throughout the book, including Gary Vee and cofounder of Legal Zoom and The Honest Company, Brian Lee.
Manifest Now by Idil Ahmed
Manifest Now is full of gems! This book is great for anyway looking to accomplish goals and create the life they want through manifestation. Throughout the book, Ahmed provides step by step tutorials on how to raise your frequency, clear out the negative, and build the life you want.
3. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
I’m sure you’ve heard about this book. I find myself constantly re-reading it. Written in 1937 by Hill, the book is highly recommended for personal development. Daymond John also lists this has one of his favorite entrepreneur books.
4. The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business by Charles Duhigg
Okay, I’ll be the first to say this. I am not normally into books like this. I’d much rather read a biography. However, this book surprised me. By looking at different case studies, Duhigg does an excellent job of showing you have habits can lead to immense success. My favorite study is on Pepsodent and Claude C. Hopkins. With the power of habit, Hopkins was able to get an entire nation to start brushing their teeth daily. Here’s an excerpt from the book here.
5. More Than Enough: Claiming Space For Who You Are by Elaine Welteroth
As a black woman working in entertainment and media, I can not tell you how much Elaine’s book means to me. Each chapter is filled with lessons on navigating your career and life. I highly recommend it for any young black woman seeking a career in entertainment, fashion, media, or the arts.
6. The Ride of a Lifetime: Lessons Learned from 15 Years as CEO of the Walt Disney Company by Robert Iger
Robert Iger’s story is truly inspiring. He worked his way from the bottom to become the CEO of Walt Disney. Within the book, he talks about his past, as well as provide leadership/management tips for the future leaders of our generation.
BONUS: The Alchemist
I first read this book in 2012 and it’s still one of my favorites. It’s about the journey of a young man finding his purpose and listening to the signs in life. I highly recommend this book for every entrepreneur.
Each of these books taught me a great deal. I hope you enjoy them and can’t wait to share with you the books I read next month.
Best,
Courtney
